We are looking for an experienced audiovisual Commissioning Engineer to join one of GV’s most successful branches based in the South West. This role is geographically area specific and will be aligned to your general location and our key accounts within that area.

Audio visual engineer vacancy in South Wales

This interesting and varied position involves the installation of the very latest AV systems and exciting technologies into establishments within our sales area, working on your own and as part of a team.

You will need to be highly flexible and reliable with a positive attitude, often working to tight deadlines completing prestigious projects and helping to ensure that systems are commissioned and delivered on time, within budget and to a very high standard.

Previous experience in AV 1st and 2nd fix with crimp and solder termination is highly desirable as is data cabling (Cat5e-7) and fibre experience. The role will involve some installation work alongside the team and likely some rectification work if wiring issues are discovered.

Working to design schematics and an understanding of integrated systems is necessary to be able to effectively test and commission them, using a mixture of on-device, web and software tools so a good level of Windows (and ideally Mac) literacy is required.

Accreditations in CTS would be an advantage but not essential as we actively promote an ongoing training and personal development programme.

A passion for AV, high standard of workmanship and the ability to work with all members of the team is essential.

Your skills and key characteristics

  • Understanding of audio, video and control signal flow, codecs, compression and various types of hardware and software used in AV systems
  • Experience diagnosing, testing and commissioning AV systems along with a keen interest in technology, particularly AV, is essential.
  • Excellent communication skills and client focused.
  • Quick to learn and adapt to new technologies and find solutions to challenges.
  • Experience in all areas of AV Installation is highly desirable, as are accreditations in AVIXA/InfoComm CTS and other industry accreditations such as CEDIA or academic qualifications in related fields.
  • A highly detail-oriented approach in all aspects is required.
  • Flexible and adaptable, often working to tight deadlines with occasional additional hours.
  • As a key member of the team, you will need to be an excellent and disciplined communicator.

Desirable experience:

  • Understanding of networking highly desirable for the purpose of liaison with client IT teams and configuration of hardware and switches for control and AVoIP, including Dante and AES67 audio flows.
  • Experience or understanding of AV control system programming (Extron, Crestron, AMX, QSC, SY, Kramer and others).
  • Experience or understanding of DSP system programming (Extron, Crestron, AMX, QSC, Biamp Tesira and others).
  • Understanding and application of general principles such as audio gain structure, projection and videowall calibration, configuration of video processors.
