We are looking to expand our team with an experienced Technical Project Manager to be part of one of GVAV’s most successful branches based in the South West. This role is geographically area specific and will be aligned to your general location and our key accounts within that area.

Technical Project Manager vacancy in Exeter

The role:

This interesting and varied role involves working closely with our sales and admin teams on exciting AV projects from the initial tender stage, site visits and system design through to coordination of project planning, execution and handover documentation to ensure all projects are delivered on time, within budget and to a very high standard. As the front line of the operation, alongside the Account Manager, customer support and consultation are key facets of the role.

Additionally, as projects progress there will be aspects of system testing and configuration (both in our workshop and in the field) and administrative tasks such as coordination of the Operations and Maintenance manuals submitted to our clients

As we are a technical organisation and subject to training and competency, the following previous skills are highly desirable: System diagnostics, working with AV control systems (diagnostics and/or programming), equipment commissioning and testing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical system design and product specification, alongside internal teams.
  • Collaboration with the team and oversight of the production of technical documents to include System design drawings, schematics, scope of works, project programme and scheduling, technical drawings and design work, both pre- and post- contract award.
  • Consultant, Client and Main Contractor liaison, on and offsite.
  • Witness testing and handover

Your skills and key characteristics

  • Previous relevant experience is highly desirable and a keen interest in technology, particularly AV.
  • Experience in system design and schematic creation is highly desirable, as are accreditations in AVIXA / InfoComm CTS General, CTS-I, CTS-D and other industry standards such as CEDIA or academic qualifications in related fields.
  • A highly driven and detail-oriented approach in all aspects is required.
  • Flexible and adaptable, often working to tight deadlines with occasional additional hours.
  • As a key member of the team, you will need to be an excellent and disciplined communicator and calm under pressure when dealing with external parties.
  • IT literacy - Extensive use of MS Office and drawing packages plus preferably some use of Visio, AutoCAD LT and other custom AV software, however training will be provided for the successful candidate as required.
  • Experience of running teams of operatives working multiple sites simultaneously and planning processes.
  • Active participation in our Technical Working Group for ongoing improvements.
